ID 2.6.1.85 DE aminodeoxychorismate synthase. AN 4-amino-4-deoxychorismate synthase. AN ADC synthase. CA chorismate + L-glutamine = 4-amino-4-deoxychorismate + L-glutamate. CC -!- The enzyme is composed of two parts, a glutaminase (PabA in CC Escherichia coli) and an aminotransferase (PabB). CC -!- In the absence of PabA and glutamine (but in the presence of Mg(2+)), CC PabB can convert ammonia and chorismate into 4-amino-4- CC deoxychorismate. CC -!- PabA converts glutamine into glutamate only in the presence of CC stoichiometric amounts of PabB. CC -!- In many organisms, including plants, the genes encoding the two CC proteins have fused to encode a single bifunctional protein. This CC enzyme is coupled with EC 4.1.3.38 to form 4-aminobenzoate. cf. CC EC 2.6.1.123. CC -!- Formerly EC 6.3.5.8.
