  • The activity of the liver cytosol enzyme is highest with acetyl esters of aryl alcohols, and thioesters are also hydrolyzed.
  • The microsomal enzyme also hydrolyzes some other negatively charged esters.
  • Best substrates were esters of salicylate with long-chain alcohols.
