ID 6.3.2.28 DE L-amino-acid alpha-ligase. AN Bacilysin synthetase. AN L-amino acid alpha-ligase. AN L-amino acid ligase. CA ATP + an L-amino acid + an L-amino acid = ADP + phosphate + L-aminoacyl- CA L-amino acid. CF Manganese or magnesium. CC -!- While the enzyme has extremely broad substrate specificity, it does CC not accept highly charged amino acids, such as Lys, Arg, Glu and Asp, CC nor does it react with secondary amines such as Pro. CC -!- The N-terminal residue of the alpha-dipeptide formed seems to be CC limited to Ala, Gly, Ser, Thr and Met (with Ala and Ser being the CC most preferred), whereas the C-terminal residue seems to allow for a CC wider variety of amino acids (but with a preference for Met and Phe). CC -!- However, not all combinations or dipeptides are formed; for example, CC while Ser is acceptable for the N-terminus and Thr for the CC C-terminus, a Ser-Thr dipeptide is not formed. CC -!- D-Ala, D-Ser and D-Phe are not substrates. DR Q8KWT3, BACD2_BACIU; Q8KWS8, BACD_BACAM ; P39641, BACD_BACSU ; //
