ENZYME entry: EC 1.1.1.426
Accepted Name |
UDP-N-acetyl-alpha-D-quinovosamine dehydrogenase.
|
Reaction catalysed |
UDP-N-acetyl-alpha-D-quinovosamine + NAD(P)(+) <=> UDP-2-acetamido-2,6-dideoxy-alpha-D-xylohex-4-ulose + NAD(P)H |
Comment(s) |
The enzyme participates in the biosynthesis of N-acetyl-alpha-D-
quinovosamine, a 6-deoxy sugar that is present in the O antigens of
many Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa
serotypes O6 and O10, Rhizobium etli, and Brucella abortus.
