The MtrC and OmcA proteins of the bacterium Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 are decaheme c-type cytochromes that reduce iron oxides extracellularly, passing the electrons to MtrA, another decaheme c-type cytochrome located in the periplasm. Formerly EC 1.9.98.1.
