ENZYME

ENZYME entry: EC 1.18.1.4

Accepted Name
rubredoxin--NAD(P)(+) reductase
Alternative Name(s)
dinucleotide phosphate reductase
NAD(P)H-rubredoxin oxidoreductase
NAD(P)-rubredoxin oxidoreductase
rubredoxin-nicotinamide adenine
rubredoxin-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (phosphate) reductase
Reaction catalysed
  • H(+) + NADP(+) + 2 reduced [rubredoxin] = NADPH + 2 oxidized [rubredoxin]
  • H(+) + NAD(+) + 2 reduced [rubredoxin] = NADH + 2 oxidized [rubredoxin]
Comment(s)
  • The enzyme reduces a number of electron carriers, including benzyl viologen, menadione and 2,6-dichloroindophenol, but rubredoxin is the most efficient.
  • Ferredoxin is not utilized.
