ENZYME entry: EC 1.18.1.6
Accepted Name |
Adrenodoxin-NADP(+) reductase.
|
Alternative Name(s) |
Adrenodoxin reductase. |
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate-adrenodoxin reductase. |
Reaction catalysed |
2 reduced adrenodoxin + NADP(+) <=> 2 oxidized adrenodoxin + NADPH |
Cofactor(s) |
FAD.
|
Comment(s) |
The enzyme, which transfers electrons from NADPH to adrenodoxin
molecules, is the first component in the mitochondrial cytochrome
P450 electron transfer systems, and is involved in the biosynthesis
of all steroid hormones.
