A new class EC 7, Translocases, has been added to the EC list. It will be part of ENZYME from release 2018_10. Read more about EC 7 here.

ENZYME entry: EC

Accepted Name
3,8-divinyl chlorophyllide a reductase.
Reaction catalysed
Bacteriochlorophyllide g + 2 oxidized ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster + ADP + phosphate <=> 3,8-divinyl chlorophyllide a + 2 reduced ferredoxin [iron-sulfur] cluster + ATP + H(2)O + 2 H(+)
  • The enzyme, found only in bacteriochlorophyll b-producing bacteria, catalyzes the introduction of a C-8 ethylidene group.
  • The enzyme contains a [4Fe-4S] cluster, and structurally resembles the Fe protein/MoFe protein complex of nitrogenase.
  • It is very similar to EC and is composed of three subunits.
  • Two of them form the catalytic component, while the third one functions as an ATP-dependent reductase component that catalyzes the electron transfer from ferredoxin to the catalytic component.
