ENZYME entry: EC 1.5.1.39

Accepted Name
FMN reductase [NAD(P)H]
Reaction catalysed
  • FMNH2 + NADP(+) = FMN + 2 H(+) + NADPH
  • FMNH2 + NAD(+) = FMN + 2 H(+) + NADH
Comment(s)
  • The enzyme can utilize NADH and NADPH with similar reaction rates.
  • Different from EC 1.5.1.42 and EC 1.5.1.38.
  • The luminescent bacterium Vibrio harveyi possesses all three enzymes, while the bacterium Aliivibrio fischeri contains only this non- specific type.
  • Also reduces riboflavin and FAD, but more slowly.
  • Formerly EC 1.5.1.29 and EC 1.6.8.1.
