ENZYME

ENZYME entry: EC 2.3.1.187

Accepted Name
acetyl-S-ACP:malonate ACP transferase
Alternative Name(s)
ACP transferase
malonate/acetyl-CoA transferase
Reaction catalysed
acetyl-[ACP] + malonate <=> acetate + malonyl-[ACP]
Comment(s)
  • This is the first step in the catalysis of malonate decarboxylation and involves the exchange of an acetyl thioester residue bound to the activated acyl-carrier protein (ACP) subunit of the malonate decarboxylase complex for a malonyl thioester residue.
  • This enzyme forms the alpha subunit of the multienzyme complexes EC 4.1.1.88 and EC 7.2.4.4.
  • Can also use acetyl-CoA as a substrate but more slowly.
