ID 2.3.1.330 DE D-xylulose 5-phosphate:acyl-carrier protein glycolyltransferase system. CA N(6)-[(R)-lipoyl]-L-lysyl-[lipoyl-carrier protein] + D-xylulose CA 5-phosphate + holo-[ACP] = glycoloyl-[ACP] + N(6)-[(R)-dihydrolipoyl]-L- CA lysyl-[lipoyl-carrier protein] + D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate. CC -!- This enzyme system produces glycolyl-[acyl-carrier protein] units CC that can be used by non-ribosomal peptide synthases. CC -!- It catalyzes a transketolase-like reaction on ketose phosphates CC derived from primary metabolism and transfers the resulting glycolyl CC moiety to a dedicated acyl-carrier protein. CC -!- During the reaction cycle the glycolyl moiety is transferred first to CC a thiamine diphosphate cofactor, then to a lipoyl cofactor, CC and eventually to the acyl-carrier protein. CC -!- While D-xylulose 5-phosphate is the best substrate, the enzyme can CC also accept D-fructose 6-phosphate and D-sedheptulose 7-phosphate. CC -!- During the reaction the lipoyl cofactor is reduced to dihydrolipoyl, CC which must be oxidized back to lipoyl by an unknown enzyme. //
