ID 2.4.1.140 DE alternansucrase. AN sucrose:1,6-, 1,3-alpha-D-glucan 3-alpha- and 6-alpha-D- AN glucosyltransferase. AN sucrose-1,6(3)-alpha-glucan 6(3)-alpha-glucosyltransferase. CA Transfers alternately an alpha-D-glucosyl residue from sucrose to the CA 6-position and the 3-position of the non-reducing terminal residue of an CA alpha-D-glucan, thus producing a glucan having alternating alpha-(1->6)- CA and alpha-(1->3)-linkages. CC -!- The glucansucrases transfer a D-glusosyl residue from sucrose to a CC glucan chain. CC -!- They are classified based on the linkage by which they attach the CC transferred residue. CC -!- In some cases, in which the enzyme forms more than one linkage type, CC classification relies on the relative proportion of the linkages that CC are generated. CC -!- This enzyme forms both alpha(1->3) and alpha(1->6) linkages in CC approximately equal amounts by alternating the linkage type. cf. CC EC 2.4.1.125. //
