A new class EC 7, Translocases, has been added to the EC list. It will be part of ENZYME from release 2018_10. Read more about EC 7 here.

ENZYME entry: EC 2.4.1.321

Accepted Name
Cellobionic acid phosphorylase.
Reaction catalysed
4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-D-gluconate + phosphate <=> alpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate + D-gluconate
Comment(s)
  • The enzyme occurs in cellulolytic bacteria and fungi.
  • It catalyzes the reversible phosphorolysis of cellobionic acid.
  • In the synthetic direction it produces 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-D- glucuronate from alpha-D-glucose 1-phosphate and D-glucuronate with low activity.
