- The enzyme is involved in the mevalonate pathway in Archaea.
- The activity has also been identified in the plant Mentha piperita
- It is strictly specific for ATP but can use other phosphate acceptors
such as dimethylallyl phosphate, geranyl phosphate, or fosfomycin.
