ENZYME entry: EC 3.1.1.83
Accepted Name |
Monoterpene epsilon-lactone hydrolase.
|
Alternative Name(s) |
MLH. |
Reaction catalysed |
- 4-isopropenyl-7-methyloxepan-2-one + H(2)O <=> 6-hydroxy-3-isopropenylheptanoate
- 7-isopropyl-4-methyloxepan-2-one + H(2)O <=> 6-hydroxy-3,7-dimethyloctanoate
|
Comment(s) |
- Catalyzes the ring opening of epsilon-lactones which are formed
during degradation of dihydrocarveol by the Gram-positive bacterium
Rhodococcus erythropolis DCL14.
- Also acts on ethyl caproate, indicating that it is an esterase with a
preference for lactones (internal cyclic esters).
- Not stereoselective.
