  • The enzyme, isolated from the archaeon Haloarcula japonica, is involved in the biosynthesis of the C(50) carotenoid bacterioruberin.
  • In this pathway it catalyzes the introduction of hydroxyl groups to C3'' and C3''' of bisanhydrobacterioruberin to generate bacterioruberin.
