ENZYME

ENZYME entry: EC 1.1.1.299

Accepted Name
malate dehydrogenase [NAD(P)(+)]
Reaction catalysed
  • (S)-malate + NAD(+) = H(+) + NADH + oxaloacetate
  • (S)-malate + NADP(+) = H(+) + NADPH + oxaloacetate
Comment(s)
  • This enzyme, which was characterized from the methanogenic archaeon Methanobacterium thermoautotrophicum, catalyzes only the reduction of oxaloacetate, and can use NAD(+) and NADP(+) with similar specific activity.
  • Different from EC 1.1.1.37, EC 1.1.1.82 and EC 1.1.5.4.
