A new class EC 7, Translocases, has been added to the EC list. It will be part of ENZYME from release 2018_10. Read more about EC 7 here.
ENZYME entry: EC 1.2.1.80
Accepted Name |
Long-chain acyl-[acyl-carrier-protein] reductase.
|
Alternative Name(s) |
Fatty acyl-[acyl-carrier-protein] reductase. |
Reaction catalysed |
A long-chain aldehyde + an [acyl-carrier protein] + NAD(P)(+) <=> a long-chain acyl-[acyl-carrier protein] + NAD(P)H |
Cofactor(s) |
Mg(2+).
|
Comment(s) |
- Catalyzes the reaction in the opposite direction.
- This enzyme, purified from the cyanobacterium Synechococcus elongatus
PCC 7942, catalyzes the NAD(P)H-dependent reduction of an activated
fatty acid (acyl-[acp]) to the corresponding aldehyde.
- Together with EC 4.1.99.5, it is involved in alkane biosynthesis.
- The natural substrates of the enzyme are C16 to C18 activated fatty
acids.
