  • The reaction is part of the biosynthesis pathway of queuosine.
  • The enzyme from Escherichia coli can also convert 6-pyruvoyl-5,6,7,8- tetrahydropterin and sepiapterin to 6-carboxy-5,6,7,8- tetrahydropterin.
