A new class EC 7, Translocases, has been added to the EC list. It will be part of ENZYME from release 2018_10. Read more about EC 7 here.

ENZYME entry: EC

Accepted Name
Na(+)-transporting two-sector ATPase.
Alternative Name(s)
ATP synthase, sodium ion specific.
Na(+)-translocating ATPase.
Sodium-transporting two-sector ATPase.
Reaction catalysed
ATP + H(2)O + n Na(+)(Side 1) <=> ADP + phosphate + n Na(+)(Side 2)
  • A multisubunit ATPase transporter found in some halophilic or alkalophilic bacteria that functions in maintaining sodium homeostasis.
  • The enzyme is similar to EC but pumps Na(+) rather than H(+).
  • Cf. EC and EC
  • Formerly EC
